From corn crib to porch ceiling.

The back porch will have a metal roof on it and we were thinking it would be nice to put something under the roof that would be nice to look at when you are sitting on the porch.  The big oak beams will be exposed, but in between them will be space with something to do.
Over the last few weeks (what felt like months)  we have been painting the soffit and fascia in Sid and Jan's barn, staring at an old corn crib that lined the one barn wall.
 That was our answer!
Sid and Jan graciously allowed us to carefully remove the old barn boards to create our porch ceiling.
Jesse spent today removing the boards,
and I spent the day removing the old, hand pounded nails from the boards.

These beautiful, old boards will line our porch ceiling and instantly give the space character.
After a days work, we aren't sure we have enough yet, but we have a good start!

There were a bunch of these little 'latches' on the corn crib doors that I may put to use in some wall art for the new house...
I am excited for new possibilities!
