First layer of exterior plaster... done.

Last weekend Dave, the electrician, and Dustin, the HVAC guy, worked on the house.

We continued to work on the exterior plastering.
 Doug mixing a batch:
This past week the last of the exterior bales were covered up with the first coat of plaster (sorry for the lack of pictures).  Now we are continuing to work on finishing touches inside so that we are ready to plaster the interior once the plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems are roughed in and the inspector comes.

Plastering the front

Saturday Karl and Kelly came down to help begin
the plastering process on the front of the house.
And Monday Jas and Jesse worked on plastering the rest of the front.

Keep in mind the first 2 layers of lime are not the finish
color... although this color is really working for me!

Plaster!!

Last weekend we began the lime plaster process.
Here is the mixer with the first batch:
 First swipe of the trowel.

After a couple minutes, they found it was easier to put on by hand!
The lift they are standing on.
The masons are still making progress.

Karl, Dave and Jesse mixing the perfect batch.
This week Jesse got a few of the gable ends finished,
and the back wall of the master.

This weekend we are doing much of the same.  Here Jeremy and Karl are working on the wall under the porch.

More work

We have been patiently (or sometimes not so patiently) waiting for it to stop raining and dry out so we can begin the exterior stucco/lime plaster.  But, in the meantime, we have been kept very busy.
This is the septic system that the excavators put in last week:
They dug 3 different trenches for the system.

In the middle of the day, our back yard was torn to bits.
And by the end of the day it was smoothed all back out again.
Those excavators are amazing!
This is the front wall in the master suite.  We will insulate where the wood is and create some built in storage areas under the windows.
Here Kenny is beginning the process of cutting felt paper and fiberglass meshing to go over all the exterior, exposed wood... getting ready for the lime.
 Jesse and the weed-whacker.
 Making everything smooth and even.

Rachel working her magic with the nail gun.
Kenny spreading out the loose straw.  It may have gotten a little hot sitting in a pile.  Smoking... no exaggeration!
Jesse working on the second floor porch mahogany flooring.

Oops.  When they dropped off the stucco, they may have had a little run in with the house.  That hurts.
 Jesse's sweet finished porch floor.
He also just about finished the front pent roof shingling.

Mike built this awesome barrel ceiling that will separate the master bed from the master bath.

They also spent time using that pink, rigid insulation for the ceiling in the main living area.
 Working in the basement.
 Ben working on the shingles.
Hopefully we will be able to begin the lime plaster this week.
Cross your fingers we don't have another earthquake, hurricane or massive flood!
